What drives us:

OUR LOVE OF BOOKS!!  It has been our "Dream Come True" to open Readers' Retreat Bookstore.  We opened for business on July 2, 2005 here at 607 Mt. Rushmore Road in downtown Custer South Dakota.  We opened up with just over 10,000 books on the shelves but now have over 50,000 books in our inventory!  We specialize in regional, Native American, and rare books.  If you are looking for a specific book, there is a good chance that we have it.   If not, our specialty is finding books on the internet that are hard to find.  Our goal is to provide our customers the best service that they have ever received so they will always come to us first for their book needs!  We are going to grow Readers' Retreat Book Store into the largest used book store in South Dakota!

        We are very proud of our local artist who cover a wide range of interests here in the beautiful Black Hills!   Some of our featured artists consist of Paul Horsted, author of "Custer State Park: From the Mountains to the Plains" and the newest "Exploring with Custer: The 1874 Blacks Hills Expedition".   We feature Pauls' books along with some of his original pictures that he has taken over the years and used in his books.   We also have some original paintings from the world famous Native American artist, Robert Redbird.  We also have a great selection of Native American jewerly, music CD's, and books on tape.
